Documents Required for Visitor Visa Extension

 1. An application form.

2. The original and one photocopy of the passport. The original will be returned after verification.

3. The following documents, as appropriate:

  (1) Visiting relatives: a household registration or the ARC of the relatives.

  (2) Chinese language training: enrollment certificate and class schedule from an approved public or private language center or university.

  Note: Record of attendance is not required for the initial application and the first extension.

  (3) Religious obligations or activities: letter of invitation from religious institution.

  (4) Employment: work permit issued by the relevant authorities.

  (5) Medical treatment: documents from hospital.

  (6) Other: certificates from relevant authorities.

 Notes:

      The applicant shall apply for extension within ten days prior to the expiration of a visitor visa. Limitations: (a) The duration of each such extension shall not be longer than that of the original visa. (b) The holder of a visitor visa may not exceed six months aggregate time in the country.

      To clarify the purpose of the extension each applicant should supply additional supporting documents.
